  1. Thank you for forking over that $250 so we didn’t have to! I read the blog post and…I can’t say it was electrifying or gratifying. πŸ˜†

    1. Content at scale’s prices are absurdly expensive. They don’t even want to put pricing on their website cause they know their bounce rate would be out of control

  2. I love this AI series you’ve been on lately! It’s still a long way off but the constant headlines get my head swiveling to see if it actually broke the threshold yet.
Hopefully you save a few people from spending $250

    1. Thans, Nick! Honestly, I’m wondering if AI developers started pushing public access too early. If everyone tries this and it’s this bad, I believe people will be less likely to try it again in the future when it’s improved. It’s kind of a PR nightmare, TBH.

  3. Please let us know how this AI post does! I’d love to know. This gives me great relief that I haven’t missed my window to become a freelance writer, or come in too late to be one before the robots take over. I love your attitude and perspective on these things.

  4. I TOTALLY agree about the editing process of Chat GPT – so frustrating!

I was under the impression that using Chat GPT for a “general outline” and then editing and adding in my own words would save me time.

    Nope.

I spent almost 3 hours editing a 1500-word blog post yesterday trying to make the AI sound more human, and I ended up having to just nix most of it and start over anyways.

    Not a fan.

    1. Right? If I wanted to be an editor, I’d just be an editor!

  5. What a great video! I think AI is helpful if you want to brainstorm ideas or create outlines for posts, but you’ll always have to go in and edit it to create more engaging reading material. But $250 for this is daylight robbery! Frankly, I think AI is only going to make our work as freelance creatives more valuable in the long-run.

    1. I remember writers going out of business many times in the past 20 years. First it was due to outsourced writing to cheap countries. Then it was copy-spun content. Then it was pennypinching content mills. And now it’s AI writers.

Every time the quality freelance writers cash in afterwards by fixing the awful content created in a hurry.

All this does is emphasize the value of skilled writers.

  6. Great video! Thanks Colleen. I ALMOST signed up for content at scale but just couldn’t bring myself to fork out the $$. Thanks for taking the hit instead and showing us what it’s like. Super interesting that Originality AI still gives it 100% AI score, so it’s kinda like what’s the point, right? Anyways, enjoying the reviews of the AI tools! Keep up the good work.

    1. Exactly! Their website says that their content passes AI checkers, but it doesn’t, so that’s literally false advertising. I think this company needs to rethink their strategy, because to me, it seems dishonest and misleading.

    2. @@colleenwelschmusic In my experience, Originality produces a lot of false positives. I tested a lot of AI written content and self-written content and for both it often gave me a score of 100%. I don’t know, maybe I just have a very robotic writing style, but getting 100% on human written content that many times seems very unlikely.

  7. Do you think copywriting is good and profitable to get into now? already established copywriters can probably keep going but can a total beginner really grow? esp with ai on the rise

    1. That’s a good question! Tentatively, I will say yes, but it’s going to be more difficult. I am adding this to my list of YouTube video topics, so thank you for the inspiration!

    2. @@colleenwelschmusicokay. Thank you for the reply. Looking forward to the video

  8. 3:45 you made a slight decimal error – it’s $0.012 per word, not $0.12 per word. And $0.005 per word, not $0.05 per word. Not sure if that helps with the prices though, it’s still way expensive.

  9. Hey, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative, very useful and well-made. I loved your videos. I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and also make highly engaging shorts for you?

  10. You are so fun to watch, and I love your personality. Thanks for saving me $250

  11. Hello! Thanks for that honest review – I’ve been looking for 2 things: If CAS content is detectable by Originality AI and HOW this content (if untouched) performs. So, I got the answer to my first question. looking forward to the analytics results for this article. Have a great day!

    1. I have only published one piece from Content at Scale. It has not performed very well.

    2. @@colleenwelschmusic Thanks a lot for the answer. This is what I thought. Ripping off all around. Similar case with Surfer SEO and their new Surfer AI add-on…Gosh! Even more expensive and same results…Seems like “AI will take copywriters jobs” is not going to happen soon. These tools are for instance completely useless for transactional articles like: “7 Best AI Apps To Generate Music” or “10 Best BBQ places in Montanta”…so…I am positive about human writers future. Remember KDP? Kindle was supposed to kill regular books. Didn’t happen. Steam engine was supposed to take many jobs –> but created the best prosperity time. And so on…we humans are not good in predicting the future. How can we be, if we cannot even generate (using AI) fact-checked article about 7 Best AI apps to Write Long Form Conent??πŸ˜‰ Cheers! πŸ‘Š

  12. I knew it was not going to be good because they have no trail and no money back guarantee, $250 for 8 articles. I would love to see your review of Surfer ai at $29 for 1 article.

    1. TBH I probably won’t do any more AI reviews. I don’t really enjoy making this kind of content.

  13. The only thing AI is good for is brainstorming ideas. When I used it, I had to make edits and check for errors. Then I had to run it through a plagiarism checker. I thought Content at Scale would be good but that price point is a rip.

  14. Nice to see an honest review around the content the tool creates, by an experienced content writer. Most of the reviews just focus on the stats – yes it’s SEO optimised, no it’s not detected as AI by their own tool – but never around how does the content actually read. It might be ‘technically’ good content in that it fulfills what Google is looking for, but it is reads like trash, it”s still trash.

    1. Well said! Unfortunately, I don’t think many of the people who create these tools are well-versed in content writing and release their products too early. I think eventually AI could produce well-written content, but at this point, many people have been too disappointed by their experiences with AI to take it seriously and try it again.

  15. Thank you so much for making this content. I was thinking about quitting my writing ambitions until I saw this. Your $250 dollars saved art! I am going to write a Dystopia about AI-generated content too!

  16. Thank you for sharing your experience. I am sorry you were unhappy with CAS months ago. I wish you had taken a little time to read or watch the tutorial so that you would have understood that there are things a writer needs to do to make this content unique and optimized. I know you do not like to edit, but some of us find this a great tool for research. You have a link to the one article, but how did the other 7 articles do? Can you share those links as well?

  17. Hello. I was on the edge of buying their plan. Now they have a 7 day trial for 39$ (maybe they saw your video and did something about it :)))) ). I was curious to see how that article you posted on your website performs in search console and analytics? Thanks again for this video

  18. Colleen, you should get your money back, but I’m so glad you bit the bullet for us! You’re terrific, lady, keep up the good and helpful work!

  19. Ok, see this worries me. Cause, outside of those transitional words in the 1st or 2nd post, I couldn’t tell this was written by A.I.

I mean, how can I tell if my writing is any good if I can’t even detect that!?
